The state capital of Mainz offers assistance in finding housing to certain groups of people.

The following groups of people can apply for housing assistance:

• Mainz citizens who are at acute risk of homelessness (e.g., termination without notice, termination for personal use, eviction proceedings, eviction date already set) and whose housing cannot be retained.
• Mainz citizens who live in facilities (women's shelter, Wendepunkt, Thaddäusheim, Heinrich-Egli-Haus, etc.).
• Recognized asylum seekers who live in shared accommodation in Mainz.
• People who receive benefits under SGB II and social benefits under XII, who live in inadequate housing and have been asked to reduce their costs.
• New city employees looking for an apartment in Mainz.

Please note:

The state capital of Mainz does not offer a general apartment referral service. Anyone looking for a new apartment for personal reasons (e.g., apartment too small, separation, condition of the apartment, moving to Mainz) must apply for a new apartment independently with the housing associations.

• Proof of membership of one of the above-mentioned target groups (e.g., letter of termination, eviction notice, etc.)
• Proof of income or benefit statements
• Identification documents, residence permit if applicable
