You need a license to provide commercial passenger transport services using buses in occasional transport.

Occasional transport includes:

• Excursion trips
• Holiday trips
• Trips with rental buses

If you want to increase the number of vehicles or seats for your bus company, you must apply to the relevant licensing authority for an extension of your permit.

• You already have a bus license.
• You can guarantee the financial viability of the business.
• You or the person appointed to manage the business are reliable.
• You or the person appointed to manage the business are professionally qualified.
• You and the entrepreneurs you have commissioned to provide transport services have your place of business or branch office in Germany.

There are no notes or special features.

• Legal action before the administrative court if the appeal is unsuccessful.

• 3 months A decision
  on your application will be made within 3 months. Processing may be extended by 3 months if necessary.

The licensing authority of the respective independent city or district is responsible.

• Valid permit
• Application for extension of bus license with details of:
  • Surname and first name of the applicant
  • Place of residence and place of business
  • For natural persons: date of birth, place of birth
  • Number of vehicles, vehicle type, capacity of the vehicles to be used
• Equity capital certificate, additional certificate if applicable, not older than 3 months
• Certificate in tax matters from the tax office, the municipality, the social security institution, and the employers' liability insurance association, not older than 3 months:
  • from the company
  • the legal representative
  • the person appointed to manage the business or traffic management
• Certificate of good conduct for submission to the authorities
• Excerpt from the Central Trade Register for companies
• Extract from the Driver Fitness Register (FAER)
• Vehicle list
• Proof of liability insurance for buses, including risk rating (WKZ)
• Business registration

The amount of the fees depends on

• the number of vehicles and
• the duration of the permit.
