Property drainage system
As a general rule, the discharge of wastewater into the public sewage system and the construction and modification of facilities for the disposal and pre-treatment of wastewater from a property (property drainage system) are subject to approval and must be applied for accordingly at Wirtschaftsbetrieb Mainz.
Exemption from the approval requirement
Residential buildings and buildings used for office or administrative purposes are exempt from the permit requirement.
In these cases, a simple notification containing a site plan of the property to be connected (extract from the municipal sewer plan) is sufficient before the start of the measure.
You can conveniently obtain the extract from the municipal sewer plan free of charge online on the Mainz municipal utility company website. You will find the relevant link at the bottom of the page.
The search area covers the city of Mainz and the municipality of Bodenheim.
You must supplement this site plan by entering existing or planned structures and the sewer connection pipe, including the nominal diameter of the pipe.
Connection to and use of the municipal sewage system is regulated by the drainage regulations of the state capital Mainz dated September 26, 1991 (including the amendments dated March 24, 1993, November 5, 1997, and December 20, 1999).
We can issue a drainage permit within approximately four weeks of receiving a complete drainage application, provided that a building permit or building permit exemption has been obtained from the building control authority.
