Digitization strategy for the Gutenberg city

The mainzDIGITAL strategy was developed in a cooperative process within the City of Mainz Group and with the involvement of the political factions of the city council. In an interplay of dialogue formats, we invited various stakeholder groups to participate in setting the framework for the digitization of municipal services.

In terms of content, the strategy combines aspects related to digitalization from current city-wide specialist strategies, such as the "Green City Plan – Master Plan M³," the "Master Plan 100% Climate Protection Mainz," and the "Economy in Mainz 2020+" concept. It also builds on previous activities in the field of digitalization, such as the expansion of the public Wi-Fi network and the "Mainzer Mobilität" app.

After a year-long strategy process, the digitalization strategy was completed in December 2021 and adopted by the Main and Personnel Committee and the City Council in February 2022. Since then, the mainzDIGITAL team has been working with many other stakeholders to implement and further develop the strategy paper and the projects it contains. In addition, we are constantly on the lookout for other exciting topics and projects to make Mainz a livable and digital city.

A detailed description of the strategy paper can be found in the PDF brochure "Digitalization Strategy for the City of Gutenberg," which is available for download at the bottom of this page.
