Start Opportunities Program
Germany's largest education project with a duration of over 10 years, started in 2024, promotes and creates equal opportunities in schools.
Overview of the program
The Startchancen program is an educational program initiated by the federal and state governments with a duration of ten years (beginning with the 2024/2025 school year). The aim is to provide students from disadvantaged backgrounds with better educational opportunities. This is to be achieved in particular by promoting basic skills in mathematics and German and strengthening social and emotional skills. Mainz will benefit from a good €31.7 million to improve school infrastructure and equal opportunities. The program is divided into three pillars:
- School construction investment program
- Opportunity budget for school and teaching development
- Multiprofessional teams at schools.
A total of 15 schools in Mainz were accepted into the Startchancenprogramm (Start Opportunities Program) by the Ministry of Education.
