Zuckmayer letter for the city archive

Once again, Prof. Dr. Eckhart Pick, former State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Justice and one of the foremost experts on the history of coinage in Mainz, has donated interesting documents to the city archives.

Archive director Wolfgang Dobras was delighted to receive a sealed document from Mainz mint master Andreas Wachsmuth dating from 1588 and a friendship album belonging to an Austrian soldier stationed in Mainz in the 1830s.

Another highlight is a letter from the writer Carl Zuckmayer to the editor of the magazine "Die Kultur," Hans Dollinger, dated March 6, 1959: In it, Zuckmayer announces the publication of "Fastnachtsbeichte" (Carnival Confession) and mentions his work on his autobiography (which he then published in 1966 under the title "Als wär's ein Stück von mir" (As if it were a part of me)).
