Ceremony to Mark the Opening of the New Tram Line
At the end of summer vacation, trams will begin running along Binger Straße starting on August 10. The official opening of the new tram line between Hauptbahnhof West and Münsterplatz will be celebrated on August 15 with a small ceremony at Münsterplatz.
The project
The "Binger Straße" expansion project has created a new tram line connecting Alicenplatz to Münsterplatz. This project thus relieves congestion at the main train station as a public transit hub. In addition, the groundwork has been laid for future expansion projects. As part of the construction work, utility lines and sewer lines were laid, the tram tracks were built, and the asphalt surface was repaved. The stops were also made accessible to improve comfort and accessibility for everyone.
The renovation work is now complete. Since August 8, 2026, Binger Straße has been reopened to vehicle traffic in both directions.
