Intercultural Week - September 11 to 20, 2026
The 51st Intercultural Week will take place from September 11 to 20, 2026. The Intercultural Festival invites you to the city center of Mainz on September 13, 2026.
Celebrate together, get informed and learn more about each other!
In 2025, Intercultural Week celebrated its milestone birthday under the motto: "50 Years of Intercultural Week Mainz."
Intercultural Week (IKW), which takes place every September, has been organized by the state capital of Mainz since 1976. During this week, the Office for Migration and Integration, the Advisory Council for Migration and Integration, Mainz migrant organizations, and initiatives involved in migration work in Mainz present themselves.
Every year, Intercultural Week offers all residents of Mainz the opportunity to celebrate together, learn more about each other, and exchange information beyond their everyday encounters.
Photo campaign "Mainz shows its face"
As part of Intercultural Week 2021, the Rhineland-Palatinate Democracy Center and the "How do we want to live" project (International Federation) have launched a photo campaign under the slogan "Diversity instead of hate."
People determine the face of a society. What is the face of Mainz? Mainz stands for tolerance, diversity, and democracy. It is cosmopolitan and colorful!
This is exactly what the photo campaign wants to show: Mainz has many faces and just as many stories. What they all have in common is their commitment to democratic and human rights-based fundamental values, as well as their opposition to anti-Semitism, sexism, racism, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, and all other forms of misanthropy.
Mainz shows its face—for diversity and democracy!
