The 51st Intercultural Week will take place from September 11 to 20, 2026. The Intercultural Festival invites you to the Cathedral Square on Sunday, September 13, 2026.

In 2026, Intercultural Week will be held for the 51st time.

Held annually in September, Intercultural Week (IKW) has been organized by the state capital of Mainz since 1976. During this week, the Office for Intercultural Affairs and Labor Market Promotion, the Advisory Board on Migration and Integration, Mainz-based migrant organizations, and initiatives active in migration work in Mainz present their work.

Every year, Intercultural Week offers all residents of Mainz the opportunity to celebrate together, learn more, and get to know one another better beyond their everyday interactions. 

The program, including all individual events, will be available here starting August 31, 2026.

As part of Intercultural Week 2021, the Rhineland-Palatinate Democracy Center and the "How do we want to live" project (International Federation) have launched a photo campaign under the slogan "Diversity instead of hate."
People determine the face of a society. What is the face of Mainz? Mainz stands for tolerance, diversity, and democracy. It is cosmopolitan and colorful!

This is exactly what the photo campaign wants to show: Mainz has many faces and just as many stories. What they all have in common is their commitment to democratic and human rights-based fundamental values, as well as their opposition to anti-Semitism, sexism, racism, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, and all other forms of misanthropy.
