Close coordination between the employment agency, city administration, the relevant agencies, and organizations involved in integration and education can help better align the content of counseling services and reach target audiences in an even more targeted manner.

Against this backdrop, the Mainz Network for the Labor Market & Integration—initiated by the Mayor’s staff offices (the Migration Office and the Office for Employment and Labor Market Promotion)—was established in collaboration with the Mainz Employment Agency and the Mainz Job Center. Subsequently, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Rheinhessen and the Chamber of Crafts for Rheinhessen joined the network. Additional institutions involved in integration and education in Mainz are represented in the network’s working groups.

The Labor Market & Integration Network has set itself the goal of

• pool existing resources to implement labor market policy goals,
• promote the recruitment of skilled workers and the integration of immigrants into the training and labor markets,
• to develop and certify the existing potential and skills of immigrants,
• increase transparency regarding existing counseling services and pathways to certification,
• and to address barriers and challenges in the labor market.

• Information sessions on the integration of skilled workers (training, language acquisition, workplace integration processes, etc.)
• AK Career Guidance for Schools in Mainz
• Exchange forums on securing a skilled workforce in education and care professions
• Data monitoring: Integration of immigrants into the training and labor markets in Mainz (ism e.V.)
• Development of multilingual informational materials
