Refurbishment examples

Energy costs

The project to implement the "Integrated Neighborhood Concept for Energy-Efficient Renovation in Mainz Lerchenberg" (developed by the IWU Institute in Darmstadt in 2014) is part of the German government's long-term strategy to halve global greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

This is the overarching goal of climate protection and the creation of a livable future for the next generations.

The examples presented here show you which measures have been implemented for the Mainz-Lerchenberg area as part of this project and which are still in the implementation process.

One of the measures, the renovation of buildings, brings the following advantages in addition to increasing the energy efficiency of the buildings:

  • it increases property values,
  • it leads to a healthy indoor climate,
  • a pleasant room temperature, and ultimately also makes
  • independence from rising energy prices.
