Civil protection
Civil protection encompasses all "preventive and defensive measures against large-scale hazards" and is governed by the Rhineland-Palatinate Fire and Civil Protection Act.
In accordance with Section 19(3) of the Rhineland-Palatinate State Fire and Disaster Protection Act (LBKG), disaster control units are to be established in particular for the following areas:
- Command
- Fire protection
- Technical assistance
- Hazardous materials
- Medical services
- Support
- Supply
- Psychosocial emergency care
- If necessary: Water rescue
- If needed: Rescue from rough terrain
The following aid organizations collaborate with KatS in Mainz:
- Arbeiter Samariter Bund (ASB)
- German Life-Saving Association (DLRG)
- German Red Cross (DRK)
- Johanniter Accident Relief (JUH)
- Malteser Hilfsdienst (MHD)
At the state level, these organizations form the Aid Organizations in the State Crisis Management (HIK).
Also participating are:
- Senior Emergency Physician Group (LNG, provided by Mainz University Medical Center)
- Organizational Director (OrgL, provided by ASB, DRK, JUH, MHD, RDC)
- Mainz Fire Department
- Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW)
- Ecumenical Emergency Pastoral Care (NFSS)
- German Armed Forces (in special cases, only upon request)
