The DLRG and DRK each form a rapid response team (SEG-B). An SEG-B looks after and cares for people who have had to be evacuated to a sports hall, for example, due to a bomb being found.

The Rapid Response Catering Unit (SEG-V) can provide up to 300 affected individuals and/or emergency responders with cold and hot meals as well as hot and cold beverages.

Starting in 2024, aid organizations did not have the necessary resources to establish and operate such a unit. Therefore, the City of Mainz designed and established its own SEG-V in the form of a municipal unit. In September 2024, theoretical and practical training began for the approximately 30 volunteer members of the new unit. At the same time, the gradual procurement of the necessary equipment began.

The unit is based at Fire Station 2 in Mainz’s Neustadt district. For catering operations within the city limits, it can make use of the station’s kitchen, which is specifically designed for this purpose.

For operations outside the city, a field kitchen, kitchen tents, mobile kitchen equipment, and other gear are available. 

The city of Mainz, together with the Mainz-Bingen district, operates a senior emergency physician group (LNG) and a group of organizational leaders (OrgL).

The senior emergency physician (LNA) is responsible for all management tasks in the medical field. This person is responsible for directing, coordinating, and supervising all medical measures at the scene of the incident. The LNA has authority over all emergency personnel reporting to the section head of health (ALG).

The OrgL is responsible for the entire organizational handling of incidents involving a large number of injured, ill, and/or otherwise affected persons, in accordance with the medical instructions of the LNA.

Emergency pastoral care in Mainz is a service provided by the Protestant and Catholic churches, which works together with the Mainz fire department, aid organizations, emergency services, and the police, among others. In the event of an incident in which people are exposed to psychological stress, e.g., as victims or as emergency responders, emergency pastoral care can be called in.

The THW Mainz local chapter, with its 80 active volunteers, has been working hand in hand with Mainz disaster control for many years. The volunteers work as members of the technical rescue team or the command and communications unit, or serve as members of the local chapter staff (OV-Stab).

The District Liaison Command (KVK) is the liaison office for civil-military cooperation between the German Armed Forces and local authorities. In the event of a disaster or similar incident, the KVK informs and advises the command staff about the assistance offered by the German Armed Forces and also coordinates the German Armed Forces' emergency services in consultation with them.
