There are half a dozen Jewish cemeteries in Mainz. These are resting places for eternity and thus an important part of cultural heritage, even though most of them are no longer in use.

However, this does not apply to the Jewish cemetery in Bretzenheim, which also has another unique feature: established in 1912 and covering an area of around 600 m², it is the only one of its kind located within an urban burial ground.
