Two sides of the same coin
The cemetery in Laubenheim
As if its length and the resulting panoramic view towards the town center weren't extraordinary enough, the Laubenheim cemetery has another special feature to offer: crossed by Pfarrer-Goedecker-Straße, it is effectively divided into two parts. Strictly speaking, these are actually two separate burial sites: the former church cemetery and the former municipal cemetery. After Laubenheim was incorporated, both parts were administered jointly, thus turning two cemeteries into one.
Since December 2021, the cemetery has had another special feature: Mainz's first indoor columbarium in the former chapel from 1887, which is now a listed building.
