"Optimizing your own electricity use through storage and e-mobility"

PART 9 of the information series on solar energy
Free online lecture on the topic of optimal self-consumption of electricity through storage and e-mobility on Wednesday, 29.04.2026 from 18.00 to 19.30.

Due to legal regulations, maximizing self-consumption and minimizing grid feed-in are financially incentivized. As a result, installing battery storage systems based on one’s own electricity consumption is becoming increasingly attractive. But how should the storage system be sized? What are the pros and cons of having your own energy storage system? Thanks to the transportation transition, your own solar power can also be used to charge your electric vehicle. But this raises questions as well: How can I combine my photovoltaic system with my electric car? How can I charge my electric car optimally? This detailed presentation is designed to provide answers to precisely these questions.

In Part 9 of the independent, comprehensive online information session on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., a detailed overview will be provided on the topic of optimizing self-consumption through storage & e-mobility. An overview of the possibilities for optimizing personal electricity usage will be provided, along with insights from the speakers, who will explain the pros and cons of battery storage and address the topic of determining the appropriate storage capacity.

In addition, the connection to mobility using solar power will be established, and the possibilities for optimally charging your own electric vehicle will be highlighted. The practical presentation will be supplemented by case studies and will allow you to ask questions directly to the experts and experienced citizens, so that you can subsequently take the next steps toward installing your own rooftop PV system with energy storage or adopting e-mobility.

The event is part of the online seminar series on Solar and Heat.

“Given the current conditions and to stabilize the power grids, high self-consumption of solar power makes sense. Therefore, in addition to a solar system, installing a storage unit and switching to an electric car are also recommended,” emphasizes Janina Steinkrüger, Head of the Environmental Department, in reference to the ninth event in the “Solar” online seminar series.

The information series is organized by climate protection managers in collaboration with adult education centers and the consumer advice center in the Rheinhessen-Nahe and Vorderpfalz regions.
