Following the relaunch of mainz.de in March 2026, the “Citizen Participation” section has now been integrated into the new design of the city’s approximately 20 microsites. In this thematic section of the city’s website, information on projects, participation processes, and opportunities for involvement is now presented to Mainz residents even more quickly, clearly, and user-friendly.

“Effective citizen participation starts with good information. Anyone who wants to get involved should be able to quickly find what’s important—and feel inspired to participate. That’s exactly what our new microsite does. It makes access easier, clearer, and more modern, and invites people to help shape Mainz together. After all, our city thrives on the commitment of its residents,” says Mayor Nino Haase.

New filtering options make it easy to search the list of projects, for example, by neighborhood or by the status of participation. Thanks to significantly fewer clicks required, the most important information is accessible directly from the homepage. The offering is complemented by an RSS feed for the list of projects as well as a redesigned newsletter.

Visually, too, the microsite sets new standards: The word-and-image logo of Mainz’s citizen participation initiative forms the basis for a distinctive design featuring symbol-based imagery and a clear color scheme. Like the city’s official website, the microsite is available in nine languages.

At the same time, the new site further advances a central goal of Mainz’s guidelines for citizen participation: information on projects, events, and opportunities for participation is presented transparently, clearly, and consolidated in one place. The Coordination Office for Citizen Participation will continue to develop the microsite. The goal remains to provide information on citizen participation in a timely, up-to-date, and user-friendly manner and to offer Mainz residents easy access to helping shape their city together.
