Inaugural visit to ADD: "Signal for good and constructive cooperation"

During an inaugural visit to the Supervisory and Service Directorate (ADD) in Trier, the new Head of Finance and Mayor of Mainz, Daniel Köbler, discussed current municipal policy issues with ADD President Thomas Linnertz and his staff. The talks focused in particular on the general financial situation of local authorities and issues relating to the state capital's budget statutes for 2026.

During the meeting, specific questions from the ADD regarding the budget ordinance were also discussed with the ADD president and Mainz Mayor Nino Haase, who joined via video conference. The approval process for the 2026 budget is currently still ongoing.

Following the discussion, Finance Director Daniel Köbler emphasized the importance of close and constructive dialogue, which is particularly significant in light of the current challenges facing the municipal budget situation. “I would like to thank ADD President Thomas Linnertz and his team for their hospitality and the open discussion. It was important to me to make one of my first official visits to the state’s local government oversight agency to send a clear signal of our commitment to good and constructive cooperation. At a time when municipal budgets across the state are facing difficult times, our goal must be to always strive for joint solutions. We have assured each other of this.”
