Final city cycling tour: "Fancy Woman" with Cathleen Rund
CITY CYCLING: Kick-off on May 30 on the banks of the Rhine - Women's Office of the state capital invites you three weeks later to the final tour "Fancy Woman" with CITY CYCLING star Cathleen Rund on June 19
In 2026, the state capital of Mainz will once again take part in the nationwide STADTRADELN competition to pedal for climate protection. The STADTRADELN 2026 campaign will run from May 30 through June 19. Everyone is invited to cycle kilometers for climate protection.
The goal is to do something good for the environment and your own health in an emission-free way—cycling strengthens the cardiovascular system, reduces stress, and brings exercise into your daily work routine.
The three-week CITY CYCLING campaign kicks off on Saturday, May 30 at 10:00 a.m. with a kickoff event on the banks of the Rhine (near the Theodor-Heuss-Brücke), featuring a mobile bike wash, an interactive mobile bike museum, activities at the circus van, and helpful information on traffic safety at the police safety van. You can also take part in two tours led by the ADFC.
For the closing tour, the Women’s Office of the State Capital invites you on Friday, June 19, 2026, starting at 3:00 p.m. for a 20-kilometer ride (start: Stadthaus Große Bleiche) under the title “Fancy Woman”: “The Fancy Women Bike Ride is a cycling event by women for women. Under the slogan ‘Dress up yourselves and your bikes,’ this tour is exclusively for women.” Get to know our CITY CYCLING star Cathleen Rund, 1996 Olympic bronze medalist.
In addition, the ADFC is offering a variety of other tours during the campaign period; you can find out more on the city’s website.
As part of this year’s STADTRADELN in Mainz, participants can also look forward to attractive prizes. Every participant who cycles more than 25 kilometers is automatically entered into the drawing.
