Professional Certification Fair and Job Fair for International Skilled Workers in Mainz
On Thursday, September 17, 2026, the Professional Certification Fair will take place for the seventh time at the Stadthaus Große Bleiche. Together with the City of Mainz, the Employment Agency and the Mainz Job Center invite international skilled workers to attend the fair.
The focus is on providing guidance regarding the recognition of foreign professional qualifications. In addition, the affiliated job fair offers the opportunity to participate directly in job interviews with companies from Mainz and the surrounding region.
“This format has proven successful and is now being adopted by other municipalities as well,” says Mayor Nino Haase. He thanks the employment agencies and chambers of commerce in Mainz, as well as the state-wide recognition counseling centers, for their excellent cooperation. The concept offers skilled workers advice, job applications, and career entry all in one place. Companies also receive guidance on the topic of international skilled workers. The fair not only strengthens Mainz as a business hub but also helps ensure a supply of skilled workers in the region.
Heike Strack, Chair of the Executive Board of the Employment Agency, adds: “The recognition process is often difficult for those involved to navigate. With this fair, we’re providing a low-threshold platform for information—both for the individuals themselves and, for example, for integration guides or other volunteers.”
Marc Salzmann, the director of the Mainz Job Center, also emphasizes the importance of the event: “Many people bring valuable professional qualifications and experience with them from their countries of origin. It is crucial that we recognize this potential and make it available to our labor market as quickly as possible. This is precisely where Job Center staff step in with expert advice and financial support.”
The need for guidance on the recognition of foreign credentials is evident not only in the high number of visitors but also in the interest shown by companies. These companies were invited by the Rheinhessen Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK Rheinhessen) and the Rheinhessen Chamber of Crafts as part of the Labor Market & Integration Network. In addition to businesses from the skilled trades, industry, and logistics sectors, employers from the health care and social services sectors are also represented.
Advisory organizations from across Rhineland-Palatinate are on hand to assist visitors with their expertise. In addition to the organizers, participating institutions include the partner organizations of the Labor Market & Integration Network, the Rheinhessen Chamber of Skilled Trades, and the Rheinhessen Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK). Recognition counseling is also offered by the Rhineland-Palatinate Chamber of Engineers, the state counseling center MIP Consulting, the ISM Counseling Center for Health and Care Professions, the IQ Specialist Center for the Qualification of Educational Professionals, Arbeit und Leben Rhineland-Palatinate/Saarland, and the KAUSA State Office. The program is supplemented by the “Faire Integration” counseling service and the “Quali4Job” program for nursing and social work professions.
