Corruption prevention

Here you can find out about the facts of corruption and the anti-corruption office of the state capital Mainz.

Corruption is not defined by law, but there are various other approaches. It undoubtedly refers to the secret abuse of entrusted power for private gain or advantage. An advantage in this context is any benefit to which the recipient is not entitled and which improves their economic, legal, or personal situation or that of a third party. Corruption thus damages citizens' fundamental trust in the independence, incorruptibility, and ability to act of the state and the integrity of the economy.

For the state capital of Mainz, as a modern administration with a wide range of responsibilities in almost all areas of daily life, social responsibility is an important goal. It is therefore important that the employees of the state capital of Mainz act with integrity and live by values such as incorruptibility and transparency, and also represent these values to citizens.

As in other cities, the task of preventing corruption was assigned to the audit office of the state capital of Mainz in May 2016, and an anti-corruption officer (AKB) was appointed. This officer is committed to absolute neutrality.
