We, the City of Mainz, offer you the opportunity to complete a volunteer service in various fields.
Depending on your skills and preferences, you can decide whether to complete a volunteer service with the City of Mainz as a Voluntary Social Year (FSJ), Voluntary Ecological Year (FÖJ), Voluntary Social Year in Culture (FSJ Kultur), Voluntary Social Year in Sports (FSJ Sport), or Federal Volunteer Service (BFD).
Requirements for the voluntary service
- Completion of 9 years of full-time compulsory education
- 1 year (min. 6 months to max. 18 months possible)
- Willingness to participate in educational seminars

The state capital Mainz is the location for voluntary service. The voluntary service providers for the state capital Mainz are the German Red Cross for social services, the Rhineland-Palatinate Cultural Office for cultural services, the FÖJ association for ecological services, and the Rhineland-Palatinate Sports Youth Association for sports services.
