Catholic youth associations and 20 regions (deaneries) of the Diocese of Mainz have joined forces to form the Federation of German Catholic Youth (BDKJ), a strong umbrella organization with 15,000 members. The Episcopal Youth Office (BJA) coordinates youth ministry and youth work as the "youth department of the diocese."
