The LIGA der Freien Wohlfahrtspflege in Rheinland-Pfalz e.V. (= LIGA) is an association of the leading organizations for independent social welfare work (= welfare organizations) operating in Rhineland-Palatinate.

LIGA plays an important role in shaping social policy and legislation in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It represents the interests of socially disadvantaged and vulnerable sections of the population and is committed to the further development of a civil society based on solidarity.

As social service providers, the organizations affiliated with the welfare associations in Rhineland-Palatinate maintain around two-thirds of all homes and facilities for the elderly, disabled, homeless, unemployed, and youth (vocational) assistance, as well as numerous semi-residential and outpatient services and many counseling centers. In total, around three-quarters of all social assistance in Rhineland-Palatinate is provided by independent welfare organizations.
