The Diakonisches Werk began its work promoting and advising volunteers throughout the city of Mainz on July 1, 2018, and, in close cooperation with the administration and the working group of welfare organizations, began its coordination function for volunteers, associations, and initiatives.

It is setting up a volunteer office for the state capital of Mainz, thereby ensuring that volunteers, clubs, associations, and organizations in the non-profit sector receive advice.

The aim is to recruit people for voluntary work, to train and educate them, and to arrange training and further education measures.
