If you wish to erect or modify a gravestone or other structure in a cemetery, you must generally obtain the consent of the respective cemetery administration.
You must notify the Mainz cemetery administration of the Mainz municipal utility company of the erection and any changes to gravestones. You must submit a declaration that the project complies with the valid cemetery regulations in conjunction with the TA-Grabmal (technical instructions for gravestones) specifications.
The erection and any alteration of gravestones may only be carried out by a specialist company, such as a stonemason.
Please enclose the gravestone design with a floor plan and side view on a scale of 1:20 with your notification. Please specify the material and finish.
You may begin the project eight weeks after submitting the complete notification. This is conditional on the cemetery administration of the Mainz municipal enterprise not raising any objections during this period regarding a violation of the cemetery regulations and the TA-Grabmal (technical instructions for gravestones).
You may begin the project before the eight weeks have elapsed if the cemetery administration confirms compliance with the applicable cemetery regulations and the TA-Grabmal.
You must re-register the project if you do not erect or modify the gravestone or other structure within one year of submitting the notification.
