Brief description

Jockel-Fuchs-Platz is an important place for the people of Mainz. Now, a new concept is to be found that connects the square to the Rhine via an open staircase, fits in with our times, and has a Mainz character. In accordance with a city council decision, Mainzer Aufbaugesellschaft für die Rheingoldhalle GmbH & Co. KG is organizing the urban planning competition, which is being prepared with citizen participation. The patron of the citizen participation is Mayor Nino Haase.

Citizen participation

As part of the public participation process, a vision for Jockel-Fuchs-Platz and the open staircase was developed that is supported by many people in the city. The vision was developed by a "steering group," a committee made up of representatives from the city administration, interest groups, and citizens. All Mainz residents were able to apply to participate in the steering group. The (interim) results were presented, discussed, and published online during two public citizen dialogues. The results will be incorporated into the call for entries for the urban planning competition, which will take place afterwards.
