Disposal fund Lerchenberg, Mombach and Neustadt 2024

Brief description

The Social City – Social Cohesion funding program's discretionary fund can be used to support measures that have a positive effect on the Neustadt, Lerchenberg, and Mombach neighborhoods. The aim is to take up and financially support smaller measures and cooperation projects by associations and institutions, as well as ideas from citizens. This can strengthen civic engagement and the participation of citizens in their neighborhood. The measures must have a direct connection to the respective neighborhoods and be easily accessible to all residents of the neighborhood.

Last year, for example, a bilingual reading project for children was carried out, a plotter device for creative activities was purchased, and inclusive communication boards for playgrounds were installed.

Citizen participation

Citizens, associations, and initiatives can submit their ideas to the neighborhood management team. The neighborhood management team is happy to answer any questions or exchange ideas in advance. Once the applications have been checked for completeness, applicants can present their ideas to the local citizens' committee. The committee then votes independently on the applications. The citizens' committee is made up of residents of the respective neighborhood.

Affected urban area

Mainz-Neustadt, Mainz-Mombach, Mainz-Lerchenberg

Planned planning and implementation period

This year, the discretionary fund was open for applications in all three districts from December 18, 2023, to February 23, 2024. In Mombach and Neustadt, the 2024 discretionary fund was already exhausted in this first round. In Lerchenberg, applications could be submitted in a second round until April 19, 2024.

The citizens' committees of the respective districts then voted on the applications. Once the applicants had received their grant notifications, the projects could be implemented. Proof of use had to be submitted to the neighborhood management by November 30, 2024.

10,000 euros are available for each district.
