Disposal fund Lerchenberg, Mombach and Neustadt 2025

Brief description

The Social City – Social Cohesion funding program's discretionary fund can be used to support measures that have a positive effect on the Neustadt, Lerchenberg, and Mombach neighborhoods. The aim is to take up and financially support smaller measures and cooperation projects by associations and institutions, as well as ideas from citizens. This can strengthen civic engagement and the participation of citizens in their neighborhood. The measures must have a direct connection to the respective neighborhoods and be easily accessible to all residents of the neighborhood.

This year, for example, sewing machines for a creative handicrafts club, a mobile translator and a multifunction printer, as well as a neighborhood tour on the theme of "birds" were funded.

Citizen participation

Citizens, associations, and initiatives were able to submit their ideas to the neighborhood management team. Once the applications had been checked for completeness, applicants were able to present their ideas to the local citizens' committee. The committee then voted independently on the applications. The citizens' committee is made up of residents from the respective neighborhood. Applicants had until November 30, 2025, to implement their projects.

Affected urban area

Mainz-Neustadt, Mainz-Mombach, Mainz-Lerchenberg

Planned planning and implementation period

This year, the discretionary fund was open for applications from January 28, 2025, to March 9, 2025, with a second round in Neustadt running until May 4, 2025. The respective citizens' committees then voted on the applications. Implementation of the projects could begin once the preliminary grant notifications had been delivered. Proof of use of the funds had to be submitted to the neighborhood management by November 30, 2025, at the latest.

The applicants for this year's discretionary fund were once again able to implement a wide range of projects and thus make a difference in their neighborhood. The discretionary fund for the year 2025 is now closed.
