The redesign of the square in front of the local administration building has been a long-standing wish of the citizens of Marienborn and the local council. The aim of the redesign is to improve the quality of the space while taking into account the ideas of the residents of Marienborn. The Mainz building management department has been commissioned with the planning.

Public participation events took place on December 21, 2022, and April 18, 2023.

Mainz-Marienborn

The tender and commissioning have been completed. The construction work is largely finished, with the final minor measures to be implemented shortly.

The budget allocates €512,500 for the redesign of the forecourt.

The paving work has been successfully completed, and the old façade and canopy have also been freshly painted. In addition, the planting in the beds next to the parking spaces and the large bench was already carried out in December 2024, so that this area is now completely finished.

A few final measures (e.g., labeling the information board and installing additional bicycle racks) will be carried out in the near future. A new location in the immediate vicinity is currently being sought for the DHL Packstation, which was previously located on the forecourt of the local administration building.

The construction work has been completed, and the city of Mainz is currently taking care of maintenance measures such as watering the plants.
