CITY CYCLING 2026
In 2026, the state capital of Mainz will once again participate in the Germany-wide STADTRADELN competition to pedal for climate protection. STADTRADELN took place from May 30 to June 19, 2026.
CITY CYCLING Awards Ceremony
This year’s City Cycling awards ceremony will take place on September 19 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kakadu Bar at the State Theater. In addition to the awards ceremony, guests can look forward to a diverse selection of short films on the topic of cycling, presented by the International Cycling Film Festival.
Those interested can register by emailing fahrrad@stadt.mainz.de. Walk-ins are also welcome, but space is limited, so participation cannot be guaranteed in this case.

Cycling, not just for climate protection
For the 15th time, as part of the STADTRADELN campaign, members of the city council and local advisory boards, as well as citizens, were invited to log as many kilometers as possible by bike—both in their personal and professional lives—over a three-week period.
This benefits not only your health, the environment, and urban traffic—the most committed municipalities stand to receive a national award and high-quality prizes.
Mainz Celebrates the 2026 CITY CYCLING Winners
The team that cycled the most kilometers in 2026 was Team FIETS. With just 94 active cyclists, they cycled an impressive 46,851 kilometers.
The team from the Gymnasium am Kurfürstlichen Schloss Mainz won in the Schools category with a total of 42,516 kilometers.
The drawing for this year’s prize winners has already taken place. All participants who cycled at least 25 kilometers during the campaign period were automatically entered into the drawing.
The state capital of Mainz would like to thank all participants as well as the numerous supporters of the campaign. Year after year, STADTRADELN makes an important contribution to raising the profile of cycling, strengthening climate protection, and further advancing sustainable mobility in Mainz.
Special thanks also go to our STADTRADELN star, Cathleen Rund. Read about her experiences with STADTRADELN in Mainz in her blog posts: STADTRADELN Homepage (opens in a new tab).
