A tactile model of Mainz Cathedral with Braille is available on Liebfrauenplatz for visitors and citizens of the state capital Mainz with visual impairments.
Touch model for blind and visually impaired people
On Liebfrauenplatz square stands a bronze model of Mainz Cathedral, close to the original. It is true to scale and marked with Braille. The Westphalian sculptor Egbert Broerken created the "cathedral you can touch." The Mainz Community Foundation initiated and financed the €30,000 model on the occasion of the cathedral's 1000th anniversary in 2009.
