International internships: Expanding global wine knowledge

GWC portal for students, trainees and companies

From Mainz to San Francisco for eight weeks to help promote the cool Bottle Rock wine festival in Napa Valley? Or from Flonheim to Chile to organize wine tours in Valparaíso?

The global network of Great Wine Capitals, of which Mainz and Rheinhessen have been members since 2008, makes international exchange easy with its
new portal.

Students of wine business or wine marketing/marketing, as well as trainees in the hotel, catering, and wine industries, can register on the portal. The same applies to providers of internships, i.e., wineries, tourism companies, and restaurants from the nine international Great Wine Capitals and their wine regions. The internship portal will then bring together those seeking and those offering internships.

What makes it special is that the portal can only be used by students/trainees and companies belonging to these Great Wine Capital regions. The webmasters of the cities reserve the right to delete any offers
and applications that have been entered unlawfully.

Together with Johannes Gutenberg University and the Catholic University, Mainz University of Applied Sciences is another of the three public universities in the state capital of Mainz. Scientific institutions for viticulture

The region is also home to the Rural Service Center Rheinhessen-Nahe-Hunsrück (DLR). The DLR's mission is to train young farmers and winegrowers, supplemented by an attractive range of consulting and continuing education services on production-related issues in agriculture and viticulture. The office in Oppenheim focuses on viticulture, oenology, and wine marketing.

Just a stone's throw away, on the other side of the Rhine, is Geisenheim University of Applied Sciences. It also enjoys an excellent international reputation as Germany's university for viticulture. Many of the successful winegrowers in Rheinhessen studied here.
