The Dr. Koehler winery in Bechtheim combines nature and architecture in a modern and authentic way. The winery cleverly references its name, "Doktor" (doctor). For example, a wine tasting becomes a "consultation."
The highlight is the new building, which was designed as a contemporary interpretation of a farmstead. It blends harmoniously into its surroundings and reflects the structure of the existing buildings. The spacious courtyard area is multifunctional: events are held here, and visitors can easily reach the wine shop. At the same time, it serves as a farmyard for the grape harvest.
With its modern, cubic architecture, which deliberately contrasts with the historic buildings while at the same time creating a harmonious connection through carefully selected materials, the Dr. Koehler winery impressed the jury. It received the Best Of Wine Tourism Award 2026 in the category "Architecture, Parks, and Gardens."
