2026 Civil Courage Award: Seeking People with the Courage to Take Action
Anyone who takes responsibility and helps others in an emergency or dangerous situation deserves recognition. That is why, starting immediately, dedicated citizens can be nominated for the State of Rhineland-Palatinate’s 2026 Civil Courage Award.
The award honors individuals who, through prudent action, have—for example—prevented a crime, contributed to its investigation, or provided support to those affected. The focus is not on heroic intervention, but rather on level-headed and responsible behavior.
Nominations can be submitted through September 30, 2026, using the nomination form provided by the Rhineland-Palatinate Crime Prevention Office. The awards ceremony will take place on December 8, 2026, in Mainz. The award recipients will receive a certificate, a sculpture, and a cash prize of at least 500 euros.
With this award, the state honors people who do not look the other way but instead take responsibility for their fellow human beings.
