Due to the ongoing drought, the City of Mainz is asking residents to exercise caution when barbecuing
Given the low rainfall and the current dry spell, the Mainz city administration urges residents to exercise extreme caution when it comes to open fires and barbecues in both private and public areas, and to refrain from them altogether if the dry conditions persist.
Given the location of the city’s barbecue areas, there is currently no compelling need to issue a ban on barbecuing. To ensure that these areas can continue to be made available, all residents are urged to exercise caution when using them and to ensure that no fire can spread to surrounding areas. Even carelessly discarding cigarette butts can lead to a fire.
