The event offers older adults, their family members, and anyone interested a chance to learn in a concise manner about counseling, support, and recreational opportunities in Finthen and the city of Mainz. Numerous organizations and initiatives will present their offerings at information booths, including the Gemeindeschwester plus, the Coordination Office for Open Senior Services, the Care Support Center, and the Mainz Volunteer Agency.

“Growing older doesn’t mean participating less in life—on the contrary: there are so many ways to stay active, meet new people, and find support. The Senior Information Fair brings these services right to the heart of Finthen while also creating a space for people to connect. I am very pleased with the commitment of the Senior Citizens’ Network and hope that many senior citizens, their relatives, and interested members of the public will take advantage of this afternoon to learn more, strike up conversations, and enjoy each other’s company,” says Jana Schmöller, Head of Social Affairs.

The Senior Information Fair will be opened by Local Council Chair Manfred Mahle and the Coordination Office for Open Senior Services. Michael Heinz, a member of the Senior Network, will serve as the moderator for the afternoon.

In addition to information, there will be plenty of opportunities for physical activity: Claudia Krehn-Azghandi from the Willius Senzer Dance School invites everyone to dance together. The program will be complemented by energizing movement exercises led by exercise instructor Gabriele Michel. Rides on the Malteser rickshaw are also planned.

Coffee and cake will be available for a donation.

The Finthen Senior Information Fair will take place on Friday, October 23, 2026, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the foyer of the Finthen Community Center, Am Obstmarkt 24, 55126 Mainz. Admission is free.
