Ludwig Holle: "In a large municipality like the state capital of Mainz, creating housing is naturally one of the most important goals. In my role as head of the Department of Construction, I want to build faster, more efficiently, and more reliably, while at the same time preserving our rich historical heritage and making it accessible to the public. I am convinced that this will make Mainz even more attractive in the long run.

It is also important to me to involve employees and make good use of existing potential. Effective communication both internally and externally, as well as close coordination with political representatives and other departments, are key to this, because only in this way can we continue to become a little more efficient." 

Ludwig Holle: "Well, the city is densely built up, so creating new housing is difficult, especially since we naturally have to take climate change into account. There are also many regulations and laws that must be applied here, which poses challenges for figuring out how we can create housing under these conditions. 

In order to build, we need higher revenues. The city needs money, which is why it’s important to strengthen the business sector to increase tax revenues. This would allow us to build faster and address the backlog of renovation projects.

The requirements and regulations surrounding our historical heritage also particularly appeal to me: the Gutenberg Museum needs to be completed, and I see great potential for this in Mainz by connecting the many volunteers. 

It is generally important to find qualified new staff to offset staff turnover. In doing so, I place great emphasis on ensuring motivation."

Ludwig Holle: "It all comes down to communication, doesn't it? Working together and talking to one another—being open to new ideas. Mainz is just the right size; people know each other, respect one another, and get along."
