Discoveries in Bretzenheim
Another discovery in our series takes us to Mainz-Bretzenheim.
The pretzels named after this district whet your appetite. Bretzenheim is one of the oldest villages in Rheinhessen, and in the town center, you will find not only the striking coat of arms but also many idyllic corners, such as the Gänsmarkt and town hall. Here and in the neighboring streets, there is a lot going on when the popular pretzel festival is celebrated.
One figure seems to have a good overview: standing in a green space, she greets guests and points to the Catholic church, which is perched on a hill just behind her.
If you walk a little way downhill along Mühlweg, you will come to a small oasis, the Lindenmühle nature show garden. If you take a closer look, you can discover a number of animal and plant species here, whether in the flower beds, around the water features, or at the wild bee hotel.
