Rhineland-Palatinate State Sports Association

Purpose of the association

The Rhineland-Palatinate State Sports Federation (LSB) is the association of gymnastics and sports clubs in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, represented by the sports federations and professional associations. It has 6,200 member sports clubs with 1,480,000 members. The LSB promotes popular, recreational, and competitive sports.

Its responsibilities include

  • It promotes education, youth welfare, women's sports, public health care, and sports science.
  • It represents the educational aspirations of sport and is the sponsor of the "Bildungswerk des Landessportbunds" (State Sports Federation's Educational Institute).
  • It promotes the goals of nature conservation and landscape preservation in order to protect and further develop sporting interests.
  • It advocates a balance of interests between sport and the environment.
