Of the total 131 daycare centers in the state capital of Mainz (as of January 2023), 23 are run by Catholic organizations, 13 by Protestant organizations, and 63 by the city. An additional 26 daycare centers run by other independent organizations, company-operated facilities, as well as 6 parent-run initiatives and in-home child care provide a wide range of care and support services for approximately 9,000 children from 8 weeks of age up to 14 years old.
