You need to apply for a permit in advance to set off fireworks outside of New Year's Eve.
If you are at least 18 years old, you may set off category F2 pyrotechnics (small fireworks) on December 31 and January 1 of each year without special official permission.
During the rest of the year, you may only set off fireworks if you have an explosives license or a certificate of competence.
Outside of the New Year's Eve period, however, as a private individual, if you are at least 18 years old, you can apply for a special permit for special occasions (such as a wedding).
The local explosives authority will review your application to determine whether the small fireworks pose a danger, whether there is a justified reason for setting them off, and whether all relevant documents have been submitted.
The setting off of fireworks is done at your own responsibility and risk.
Permit/explosives license
The permit covers the purchase, storage, and use of propellant powder.
Any change of address of the person holding the permit, as well as any change in the location of the explosives storage facility, must be reported immediately to the Registry, Legal, and Public Order Office.
Application
Applications can be made in person or in writing by mail or fax. Applications by email are not possible.
Acquisition of the permit
To acquire the permit, you must attend a specialist training course. Please note the following steps:
- Completion of the reliability check
- Issuance of the certificate of good conduct
- Submission to the management of the specialist training course
- Issuance of the certificate of expertise
You must immediately report any change of address of the person holding the permit or any change in the explosives storage facility to the Registry, Legal, and Public Order Office! This is a significant change to the permit and you must present the original permit.
