Service description
The state blindness allowance serves to compensate for additional expenses incurred as a result of disability. It is a voluntary benefit provided by the state of Rhineland-Palatinate and is generally independent of income and assets. However, certain social benefits take precedence.

Prerequisites
You can receive state blindness benefits if
you are completely blind.
you are considered equivalent to a blind person, i.e., your visual acuity in your better eye is no more than 2%.
you have an impairment of vision that is equivalent to blindness.
Your place of residence is Mainz.
What else should I know?
In the case of higher blindness-related additional expenses, benefits from income- and asset-dependent blindness assistance can be applied for in addition to the state blindness allowance (see also

).
For war blind persons, the provisions of the BVG apply.
