Driving license: Apply for trailer category E
Online services
If you have a Class B driver's license, you can extend it to include trailer class E.
What do I need to know?
Service description
With a Class B driver's license, you may attach a trailer to your car that does not exceed a total weight of 750 kg.
With a BE driver's license, on the other hand, you can attach a trailer with a permissible total weight of over 750 kg to your vehicle. The maximum weight of the trailer must not exceed 3,500 kg.
To apply for an extension of your driver's license to include trailer class E, you must already have a class B driver's license or meet the requirements for a driver's license. To extend to class BE, you only need to pass a practical test. A theory test is not required.
If you have a Class B driver's license, you can extend it to include Class E (or BE). This entitles you to drive vehicle combinations consisting of a Class B towing vehicle (car or light truck) and a trailer with a maximum authorized mass of more than 750 kg. The permissible total mass of the combination must not exceed 3,500 kg, as the weight of the trailer is limited to 3,500 kg.
