The state capital of Mainz is focusing on the future development of the Drais district following a decision by the Mainz-Drais local council. Under the title "Drais 2040," various events were held with the extensive participation of Drais residents and associations. At these events, some of which were accompanied by external parties, future developments and development opportunities for the district were discussed and worked out. The Office for Urban Research and Sustainable Urban Development is responsible for the "Drais 2040" project within the Mainz city administration.

The kick-off event for "Drais 2040" took place on May 16, 2023. Key topics were identified based on the discussions and feedback provided there. These topics were then further developed in a total of four different workshops led by members of the Drais local council. The four topics were: "Renewable energies" (July 12, 2023), "Growing up in Drais" (July 19, 2023), "Living in Drais" (July 25, 2023), and "Life in Drais" (September 12, 2023).

Independently of this, a separate participation program for children and young people was also carried out, including projects at the Drais elementary school and church youth work.

Mainz-Drais

The kick-off event took place on May 16, 2023, and the four workshops were held from early July 2023 to mid-September 2023. On November 15, 2023, the closing event for the "Drais 2040" citizen participation project took place from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kardinal-Volk-Haus in Drais. Implementation of the projects is ongoing.
