The Drususwall recreation area is located in the listed ramparts—Mainz's green belt. The facility offers a place for Mainz residents and visitors of all ages to relax. The flower garden section is designed as an attractive park area for older people. The exercise lawn and paddling pool offer children and young people plenty of opportunities to play and exercise. A kiosk with a pergola completes the facilities.

As the recreation area is now getting on in years, the kiosk with pergola has been renovated. Now the outdoor areas are also to be refurbished.

The work will be carried out in two construction phases:

Construction phase: Flower garden and exercise lawn
Construction phase: Splash garden
The aim is to make the facility attractive again. At the same time, the historically significant ramparts, which are part of Mainz's history, are to be permanently preserved.

Essentially, the measure involves renovating the existing building.

The children's playground will be planned as part of the second construction phase. A participatory format is planned on site for this purpose, during which the plans will be presented to children and parents. There will be an opportunity to actively participate in this process.

• Spring/summer 2028: Construction period for phase 2 – paddling pool
• Summer to winter 2028: Construction period for phase 2 – paddling garden (including playground)

The costs will be determined during further planning.

The first construction phase is currently being planned in detail. This will be followed by the tendering process for the construction work.
