The Drususwall recreational area is located within the historic ramparts—the Mainz Green Belt. The area offers a place of relaxation for Mainz residents and visitors of all ages. The flower garden section is designed as an attractive park area for older adults. The playground and splash garden provide children and teenagers with plenty of opportunities to play and be active. A kiosk with a pergola rounds out the amenities.

Since the recreational area has aged over time, the kiosk with pergola has been renovated. Now the outdoor areas are also to be renovated.

The work will be carried out in two construction phases:

• Construction Phase: Flower Garden and Playground
• Construction Phase: Splash Garden

The goal is to make the park attractive again. At the same time, the historically significant ramparts are to be permanently preserved as part of Mainz’s history.

Essentially, the measure involves renovating the existing building.

The children's playground will be planned as part of the second construction phase. A participatory format is planned on site for this purpose, during which the plans will be presented to children and parents. There will be an opportunity to actively participate in this process.

• Spring/summer 2028: Construction period for phase 2 – paddling pool
• Summer to winter 2028: Construction period for phase 2 – paddling garden (including playground)

The costs will be determined during further planning.

The first construction phase is currently being planned in detail. This will be followed by the tendering process for the construction work.
