"Photovoltaics on apartment buildings"

PART 13 - and conclusion - of the info series on solar energy

Photovoltaics in apartment buildings offer great potential for a sustainable energy supply. However, implementation requires well-thought-out solutions, particularly regarding fair billing under the tenant electricity model and cost-effective design given current feed-in tariffs. Technical challenges such as grid connection and storage integration can be overcome with modern technology, while legal and tax frameworks require careful planning. Transparent communication can also strengthen acceptance among co-owners and tenants and facilitate their access to affordable solar power.

In the 13th and final part of the comprehensive online information event on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., a general introduction to the topic of photovoltaics on multi-unit residential buildings will be provided, aimed at building owners, homeowners’ associations, individual owners, and construction companies.

During the event, participants will learn key technical terms and gain insights into various operational concepts, economic feasibility analyses, administrative aspects, and legal frameworks. The seminar thus provides a practical guide to decision-making regarding the installation of photovoltaic systems on multi-unit residential buildings.

The practical presentation allows participants to clarify questions directly with the experts so that they can subsequently embark on their own PV project on multi-family buildings.

The event concludes the 13-part online seminar series on Solar and Heat.

“I am very pleased that we are able to organize such an innovative event as part of the ‘Solar’ online seminar series and offer it free of charge, because the untapped potential of multi-family buildings is enormous, and this way tenants can also participate in the energy transition,” said Janina Steinkrüger, Head of the Environmental Department, summarizing the exciting conclusion of the 2026 series.

The information series was organized by the climate protection managers in collaboration with the adult education centers and the consumer advice center in the Rheinhessen-Nahe and Vorderpfalz regions.

The presentations complemented the vendor-independent energy consultations offered by the Rhineland-Palatinate Consumer Advice Center, which continues to provide free, personalized consultations on energy conservation, the heating transition, and energy-efficient renovations.
