An exception to parking in the resident parking area for businesses can be obtained:

• those who have their company headquarters or offices in this area.
• Those who do not have their own parking space.

The resident parking permit for businesses

• looks like the normal resident parking permit, except that it is green.
• It is time-limited: Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• A maximum of one resident parking permit can be issued
  per business (although up to two license plate numbers can be entered on the permit).

Validity: 1 year

Eligible are businesses, companies, medical practices, and law firms that have their headquarters or offices in the resident parking area and do not have their own parking space.

We can list up to two license plate numbers on the resident parking permit, but only one vehicle may park in the resident parking area at any given time.

• In accordance with Section 6 (1) No. 14 of the Road Traffic Act (StVG) in conjunction with Section 42 (2) sentence 1 of the Road Traffic Regulations (StVO),
  
  
• Section 45 (1) b sentence 1 no. 2 of the Road Traffic Regulations (StVO)
  
  
• In accordance with Section 1 of the Schedule of Fees for Road Traffic Measures in conjunction with the Schedule of Fees

• Lease agreement
• Vehicle registration certificate (for calculating the annual fee)
• Business registration or extract from the commercial register

The fee is calculated based on an annual base amount of €31.20 multiplied by the respective length and width in meters of the vehicle to be registered, as specified in sections 18 and 19 of the vehicle registration certificate. 

Changes: A processing fee of €15 will be charged for changes or re-registrations.

Adjustment of the fee schedule for issuing parking permits for residents as of July 1, 2025

The state capital of Mainz would like to remind you of the changes to the fee schedule for resident parking. The new fee schedule was approved by the city council on April 9, 2025. This regulation came into force on July 1, 2025. 

The application procedure remains the same. The permit is issued for one year, but can be withdrawn or partially refunded.

The permits issued remain valid until their expiry date. You can apply for a new parking permit 4 weeks before your current permit expires. The new fee is based on an annual basic fee of €31.20, which is multiplied by the length and width of the vehicle.

In Mainz, several areas of the city are designated as resident parking areas. The parking spaces in these parking areas are available to residents during the specified times. Eligible persons are not assigned a specific parking space with their permit, but only a parking area.
