mainzMagazin recommends: The Nest
Note: An article from mainzMAGAZIN Fall/Winter 2020
The Neustadt district has gained another place to go out. The latest addition is "Das Nest" – a cozy café during the day and a cozy bar in the evening. The owner is Anne Specht – the source of inspiration for the original name of the café is unmistakable. The bird theme is also reflected in many aspects of the café's design. Specially designed wooden paneling on the walls and bar is reminiscent of bird nests; plants hanging from the ceiling, wallpaper with bird and flower motifs, and the old sandstone wall all radiate a sense of nature.
Just as birds build their nests, Specht and her business partner Tristan Berude have combined old and new to create a cozy atmosphere for their guests. "I see the café as my nest, which I have opened up to others," she jokes.
At "Nest," guests can expect the complete feel-good package. Delicious breakfast options, a weekly changing lunch menu, and smaller snacks in the evening, as well as a varied drinks menu with regional wines, homemade lemonades, and refreshing long drinks. Tip: Try the special "Nest Blend" coffee—a coffee blend created especially for the "Nest" that guests can only enjoy here.
