Special collections
The special collections of the Wissenschaftliche Stadtbibliothek Mainz contain special materials from the 19th to 21st centuries.
The special collections of the Mainz University Library consist primarily of donations and bequests from the 19th to the 21st centuries and are still being expanded today, in part through the acquisition of antiquarian materials. These include the Peter Cornelius Archive, the ornithological book collection of Jakob Moyat (1861–1933), the theater library with performance materials from the former Mainz City Theater (now the State Theater), and the Jos. Scholz, which contains children’s books, games, picture sheets, and paper theater materials, a collection of autographs, and the (partial) estates of composers Volker David Kirchner (1942–2020) and Friedrich K. Wanek (1929–1991), as well as writer Susanne Faschon (1925–1995).
