From cuneiform to emoji

About the exhibition
In his non-fiction comic "It is written - From cuneiform to emoji," Ukrainian artist Vitali Konstantinov (born 1963) explores the scripts of our world.
His gaze ranges from the beginnings to the present day, from East Asian writing systems to Caucasian alphabets, from the Cherokee syllabary to the artificial scripts from Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" or Klingon from "Star Trek."
The presentation shows a selection of the scripts from Konstantinov's book. The comparison of hand drawings in the display cases, which do not yet contain any text, with the printouts of the final book pages also illustrates the creative process behind contemporary comics. In these, the text is often added later during printing. The book and the presentation are preceded by an introduction on speaking, writing, and drawing.
