Cake dreams come true

Located in a side street not far from Mainz's Schillerplatz, this is a paradise for lovers of sweet treats. Colorful berry tarts, light cakes, fine pralines, elaborate cream cakes, and chocolate line the three-meter-long counter and delight the eye. At Café Blum, it's hard to choose—the selection behind the glass is just too tempting.
Blum has been in Mainz since 2006. In summer, the terrace invites guests to enjoy the outdoors. The sister café in Wiesbaden was founded by the Blum family back in 1876 and still exists today on Wilhelmstraße. Production also takes place in Wiesbaden, in Bierstadt at "KreuterBlum" to be precise. From there, the company supplies its own cafés as well as restaurants and pubs in the Rhine-Main area with delicious cakes. "All our cakes and tarts are made without baking mixes, additives, or artificial flavors, and we prefer to use seasonal fruit from local farms in Wiesbaden—this regional connection is important to us," explains Tatjana Kreuter, who has been managing the traditional "Blum" brand since 1997. "We currently employ ten highly trained pastry chefs who work seven days a week, also to create special orders such as wedding or birthday cakes."
At KreuterBlum, great importance is attached to using the best ingredients: Valrhona chocolate from France, fruit purées from Boiron, and marzipan from the Lübeck marzipan manufacturer Lubeca are all used.
If you would like to indulge in a special cake with your coffee or tea, you should stop by Café Blum. Tip: Breakfast is also available, lovingly arranged on a tiered stand.
